Finding the right coffee table to fill a small, empty space in a room that’s small, yet still have a functional coffee table, is something that you have to consider. In other words you don’t want to buy just any coffee table that’s small. You want one that fits in with the style and décor of the room and can still be used for more than just the centerpiece of the room.

Functionality

The small coffee table you buy should have some function to it. It should be a place where you can sit your coffee, tea, or other beverage down inbetween sips yet it should also be a place you can leave reading material, candles, have lunch-breakfast-dinner, and also a place where you can store extra blankets, magazines, CDs, DVDs, pillows, candles, etc.

Shape

You need to consider what shape you want your small coffee table. They come in a huge variety of shapes such as rectangular, oval, square, round, and other types of shapes. What you need to consider most is how much space you have to put the table into and what the other structures in the room are. Are a lot of the structures in your room round? Then you may want to go with a round coffee table. Are the structures rectangular? Then you may want to go with a rectangular coffee table. Also look at the sofa our couch that the coffee table will be sitting in front of. Is it an L-shaped couch or a simple rectangular couch? If it is an L-shaped couch then a square or rectangular coffee table would look best in front of it. If you have a regular square/rectangular couch then most any shape coffee table will look nice in front of it.

To determine the color is the simplest determination of all. To know which color you should have your coffee table all you need to do is look around and determine the overall color of your living room. Then that’s the color you want your table to be.

Small coffee tables can come in many different kinds of materials. You have wood, hard wood, plastic, glass, aluminum, metal, and more. You need to pick a material that you can afford and that fits in with the rest of your décor.
