Strong, Sturdy And Beautiful, The Bamboo Coffee Table Has It All...

If you think that a bamboo coffee table is something created by the inhabitants of a remote, uncharted island, you’re wrong.

A bamboo coffee table is not something shabby that was put together with ropes and woven mats.

They are actually beautiful pieces of furniture that are every bit as functional and elegant as any other hardwood or wood coffee table.

It’s also as sturdy and more environmentally friendly than other coffee tables made of different materials.

Whether you are looking for a table for the living room, bedroom, den, or the office, you can find one to specifically match that room’s décor. Most people think that it is a type of wood when in reality it isn’t; it is a type of grass.

It is a type of grass that takes an entire year to reach its full height (which can be as high as 40 feet!).

After it reaches its full height it needs an additional 4 to 7 years for it to mature and harden.

When it does harden it is ready to be harvested and made into a coffee table or other types of furniture.

This is what differentiates a tree from bamboo. It takes a long, long time (more than a decade) for trees to reach full maturity.

Many shoots can be grown and harvested in this time therefore making it an ideal source material for furniture.

What Styles Does A Bamboo Coffee Table Come In?

There are essentially 2 styles.

One style looks similar to something you might see on a deserted island.

Something the Skipper or Gilligan might have constructed. This type is actually (even though it doesn’t look it) sturdier and more comfortable.

If you have a patio or a pool this style of table would fit in perfectly.

The other type looks like a more traditional, classical style of coffee table but the process involved in creating it is far from traditional.

The process involves cutting strips of bamboo, boiling them to make them resistant to the elements, and then gluing the strips together.

The glued strips are then pressed together to make one layered piece.

Once this is done the bamboo can be shaped into a coffee table.

This type resembles hardwood coffee tables because of the light and dark shades and finishes.

Are They Harder To Clean?

Absolutely not.

They can be cleaned with a gentle wood furniture cleanser.

Just like any hardwood or wood furniture you would want to clean up spills immediately to avoid stains or water marks. They are durable, elegant, and feature designs just as trendy or traditional as any other type of coffee table.
