We're guessing that you are considering purchasing a coffee table and that you have a love for antique furniture.

And this leads us to the conclusion that nothing would suit you better than an antique coffee table.

Each table is, in and of it’s own, a work of art.

Most are classic beauties that hold memories of years gone by and each one is suited to an individual’s style and taste.

In other words, what kind of coffee table you have tells a lot about your personality and style. A well crafted antique goes well in almost any room.

Most people when they think coffee table they think living room, but there are other rooms in the house that a beautiful antique would look just as lovely (the den or maybe an office).

Today’s coffee tables are a bit drab and boring compared to a hand-crafted antique one.

There is really no other piece of furniture that can compare to a well-maintained and cared for antique.

Now, if you are considering purchasing one you should be aware that there are two types: Antique and faux antique.

They can be hard to tell apart because they both will look like authentic antique furniture.

The main difference between these two is that a real antique coffee table is authentic, but a faux antique looks that way because it is chemically treated.

There is also a difference in price.

Faux tables will be far less expensive than an actual antique. Of course you do have your exceptions.

I have come across a few faux ones that were so expensive I almost ran away screaming!

Where Can You Go To Find Great Antique Coffee Tables?

Many places. You may have to search for a while but if you want a really great one you have to be patient.

Try an estate auction in your area. You can usually find these advertised in your local newspaper. Also check your local yellow pages for auctioneers to find out about upcoming auctions.

Sometimes auctions are a great place to find great antique furniture at reasonable prices.

Another place to find one is a goodwill or second-hand store.

A few of us here at perfect-coffee-tables.com have made great discoveries at these shops so you shouldn’t rule them out.

Try yard sales and garage sales also. Larger garage and yard sales are usually advertised in the newspaper so you can find them (be early because it’s first come first serve!).

If you don’t mind paying more you can always visit your local antique store. You can usually find great antique coffee tables here but as I just mentioned the price will be higher.

You can also check out ebay or antique reproduction furntiture – neither of which I have tried but may be a possibility. Just be careful!
